SimplePapers

Research papers, without the jargon

Upload a PDF and read it side by side with a plain-English version.

How it works
01

Upload a paper

Any text-based PDF. Two-column layouts, figures and equations are all fine.

02

Watch it turn plain

Each sentence is rewritten and typed onto the page as it arrives. The whole paper, start to finish.

03

Compare with the original

Hover any sentence to light up its twin in the other column. Check the original whenever you like.

This isn't a summary.

Summaries decide what you don't need to know. SimplePapers keeps every sentence, every heading, every figure and equation. It just says them more simply. When you reach the end, you've read the actual paper, not someone's idea of it.

Common questions

What is SimplePapers?

A reading tool for research papers. You upload a PDF and it rewrites each sentence in plain English next to the original, so you can read the real paper instead of an abstract or a summary.

Is it a summary?

No. Nothing is cut or reordered. Every original sentence gets exactly one plain-English sentence beside it. Headings, references and equations are shown as written.

How accurate is it?

Each sentence is rewritten by an AI model with the original right beside it, so you can check any line at a glance. Rewrites can still miss nuance, so for anything you'll cite or rely on, read the original column too.

Which PDFs work?

Text-based PDFs (like arXiv downloads) up to 4MB. Two-column layouts, figures and equations are handled. Scanned PDFs without a text layer won't work yet.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Try two papers free, no sign-up. After that, log in with your email for five papers a day. No password: we send a one-time link.

Can I cite the plain-English version?

Cite the original paper, never the rewrite. SimplePapers is a reading aid, like a patient tutor sitting beside you. The ideas and the credit belong to the authors.
